** NEW LAW ** While fishing in Texas State or federal waters you will now need a texas saltwater fishing license if you are bringing or unloading fish at a texas dock or pier , passed Sept.1, 2007 By TPW and GCC.
When getting the fishing license make sure you get your redfish(red drum) tag attached to the license alot of people are showing up at dock without them - Texas saltwater fishing license, since you are in the water we might as well stop comming in..
They do have a 1 day license that is 10.00 for resident and 15.00 for Non-Resident and you have the option to add additional days.
If you hold a freshwater license all you will need to purchase is a saltwater stamp (type 211) 10.00 your redfish tag should come with this. but, ask and make sure they issue it.
License Link --- http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/publications/annual/general/information/
Children do not need a Texas Fishing license but, will need a saltwater redfish tag in order to keep a bullred. I believe these are around 3.00 or 4.00 ? it's not much
Sheepshead: Special Regulation: Beginning on Sept. 1, 2008, the length limit will be 14 inches. Beginning on Sept. 1, 2009, the length limit will be 15 inches.
Black Drum: No more than one black drum over 52 inches may be retained per person per day and counts as part of the daily bag and possession limit. (personal Note- we still question this one) because before it was stictly catch and release) I will checking on this one this week
